New Music from Broken Bells

Absolutely FANTASTIC new music that I had to share immediately. This is the first single from the Broken Bells CD, just released this past week. Broken Bells is the new "side project" by Danger Mouse and James Mercer, from The Shins. This song is called "The High Road", and has been playing non-stop on my favorite alt rock radio station.

The combination Danger Mouse (on the drums here) + James Mercer (lead vocal, lead guitar) is so brilliant I'm amazed it hasn't happened before. Danger Mouse is the incredibly talented musician and DJ who produced the infamous underground CD "The Grey Album", by mixing The Beatles' "White Album" with Jay-Z's "Black Album". He went on to achieve great success with the duo Gnarls Barkley, which he formed with soul singer Cell-O.

James Mercer of course is the driving force behind the endlessly talented and beloved alt rock band The Shins, which has been around for a while. This live presentation on David Letterman took my breath away. Four minutes of pure bliss...
